Get it While It’s Hot Honey Pizza

We’re currently v obsessed with this pizza. Inspired by a pie we had at a local Pittsburgh pizzeria, this ‘za features a crushed tomato sauce, provolone and mozz cheeses, salami, red onions, and a hot honey drizzle to finish. A little sweet, a little spicy, a lot of delicious flavor for your family and friends to dig into!

This is an easy one to throw together. I combine part pizza sauce with part crushed tomatoes for a fresh, slightly chunky and sweet, sauce. Then add your shredded provolone and mozz and top with thinly sliced red onions, salami, and herbs. After baking at 425 for 25 minutes, drizzle with hot honey before serving.

This easy DIY pizza is loaded with flavorful toppings: red onions, salami, a sweet tomato sauce, with provolone and mozzarella cheeses. To top it all off: a hot honey drizzle before serving. One of my favorite hot honey products is Mike’s Hot Honey, which also comes in an extra hot version if you can handle the heat!


Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup store-bought pizza sauce
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded provolone
  • salami slices (I punched mine into smaller circles using a small round cutter)
  • hot honey (affiliate link)

Instructions

  • Set oven to 425 degrees
  • Lightly dust your pizza pan with cornmeal and then spread the crust until it stretches evenly to the edges
  • Brush the perimeter with olive oil
  • Mix together pizza sauce with crushed tomatoes and then spread over the crust
  • Sprinkle the cheeses
  • Add the red onion, salami, and dried herbs like oregano and basil
  • Bake for 25 minutes until the crust turns golden and the toppings are bubbly
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle hot honey all over the pizza.
